I am thinking about getting a Tipple Low D and am wondering if there is a difference between his 2 piece and the 3 piece flutes? An opinions would be most welcome.

I guess I can assume that they are about the same. Flute on!
having a joint between the hands allows you to adjust the Alignment

This is a frequently asked question, so I have answered the question on the FAQ page at my website. My short answer is that there is no difference in the sound of a two or three-piece flutes. However, a joint between the hands allows you to rotate the joint to adjust the fingering between the hands. Also, three-piece flutes break down into smaller pieces and are easier to carry in cases, packs, suitcases, etc.
