Do we want to keep political and/or religious in 1 thread?

There’s a difference between religion and politics?

I don’t think that Dale was suggesting that they were the same thing, just that since those two particular topics were being “discussed with such gusto”, he had them put into one, in a sticky to make it easier to find.

Tom

Yup, split em. In for a dime, etc…

AND, in a gesture of fire extinguishing, I say DUMP the current thread for the two news ones.. Throw away the flaming political paper bags full of …

I’m with Lorenzo.

At this stage, it would probably be best to do things the American way and adopt a market, deregulated solution: start by unstickying that thread, let it find its own level and nature take its course.

Of course there has to be an extra forum for this too  . And could I have another one just for myself, just so … :stuck_out_tongue:

No, come on, if there has to be on OT forum now, at least let’s have a special thread of his own to each person, who wants to go ranting and roaring about political, religious and whatsoever items!

Claus (“The Forum” :boggle: )

Since the Poststructural pub is a totally OT joint, and being that this is the group it is, I say let her rip. I for one used to enjoy reading some of those threads before- I felt I learned a lot from them- but I can’t keep up with the mega-thread now.

Plus, if things get out of hand, (I really don’t think they will) you can always put it back. My 2 cents.

Best,
Paul

Make that 4 cents.

I think that it would be easier to jump into threads of interest than to plow through the mega-thread to find something on which I feel competent (or at least compelled) to comment.

I would prefer not to be Frank. I’m more of a Monique or Anastasia person myself. So I can be that, but not Frank.
And for the record, I say yes. I think that Lorenzo’s point was a good one.

I’m with Izzy on the Frank thing and Lorenzo on the rest of it.

Will can be Frank if he wants…

Denny

I quit looking at the political/religious at about page 20 just because it was becomming a pain in the ass to wade through, so I say allow folks to post away now that we don’t have the problem of real whistle posts being bumped off page 1 by a surfeit of vitriolic spleen over perceived political outrages and vapid speculation as to the true intentions of the divine being du jour.

Politics and religion, like worm medicine, are best taken in small doses.

Ewww! I would never take worm medicine.

What kind of medicine do worms take, anyway? Of course, the size of the dose would depend on the size of the worm, wouldn’t it? Do they teach this in veterinary school? What kinds of illnesses do worms get? How can you tell if a worm is sick? Darwin, help!

Best wishes,
Jerry

I never really thought about it . . . I wonder if worms can get worms?

Now that a Postructural Pub is established, naaah.

I would be more inclined to contribute to something if it wasnt lumped into some generic name.

I agree, we should have separate unsticky threads. I never did follow the mega-thread.

I was never into the “Sticky: Political…and sometimes religious” thread because participation in it (unless you’ve been there from the get go) is too much like work. Far too much BS to want to wade through to see what points have been made & by whom. No thanks

Cheers,
David

OH NO!! :astonished:

First I have to deal with the fact that we are booted off to the bottom of the row in this pub.

Now I see rumors of removing or renovating my favorite sticky thread?

What fresh hell is this? :sniffle:

I would prefer if the political and religious be bifurcated. It’s getting painful wading through the biblical quotes to follow an interesting political discussion.

Robin

I think it would be a good idea to split 'em up…after all, talking religeon and politics in the same thread…let alone in the same pub…can only lead to really big trouble.

While we are making some changes, let’s keep the ball rolling.

thing is…we’ve already busted out of the mega-thread anyway. There’s no point in trying to keep a bunch of pub crawlers from starting independent issues-based threads.
