It’s a bit of a slow day. Anyhow, I am in the process of upgrading my workspace and as always on the lookout for ways to keep my daily whistles within reach without them rolling off the table.
So far it was always the old mug storage:
But recently some cheap and reasonably snazzy alternatives, repurposed for whistle use, have reached my desk:
Mobile phone stand, bamboo, holds one whistle (Ikea, 2.50 euro)
Tray for pens, bamboo, holds up to four whistles (Flying Tiger, 2 euro)
Any other practical ways of keeping your whistles handy?
I went with the Amazon wooden peg dish plate rack holding 18 whistles. I did have to sand some of the pegs for whistles to fit onto rack. Very affordable and satisfied my needs.
Those are useful too to keep things tidy. Perhaps not for the desk but I do have the odd corner cluttered up with unsorted stuff hoarded over the years that could do with some sorting out (although perhaps a cull/declutter would be better). :
I have stuck some of the run of the mill old whistles in an old letter/stationary stand, which works, more or less. Some of the stuff does tend to fall over every now and again.
I picked up some test-tube holders at work a few weeks ago that someone was tossing. They’re definitely overkill for a desktop whistle holder, as they hold 40, but they keep them upright and from clanking into each other. I’m using them to hold partially- to fully-finished whistles that I’m making. It’s not unlike this:
