“NEWARK, N.J. - John Z. DeLorean, an automotive innovator who left General Motors Corp. to develop a radically futuristic sports car only to see that venture crash spectacularly as he fought federal drug charges, has died at age 80.”

I wonder if he’ll be buried in a stainless steel coffin?

If only I had a time machine to go back and meet him…

I never heard of him until now, but I think DeLorean is a pretty name.

My high school geometry teacher had a DeLorean. Don’t know what he was doing teaching geometry if he could afford that car. He was a good teacher, but he spoke with such a thick German accent that few of us could understand him.

Cool car, though.

Cran, didn’t you see the Back to the Future movies?

I wouldn’t own one without a flux capacitor.

If only he’d made it to 88…

to heck with the stainless steel business - just give ME a matching numbers '64 Goat and I’d be in heaven!!!
(I have a friend that has a '66 GTO convertible that I’ve threatened to steal on more than one occasion).

Missy

A friend of mine use to own one of these back in about '84, but traded it for a '55 Corvette. He probably came out ahead on the deal since his Vette is now worth about twice as much as the most expensive DeLoreans selling here on eBay:

(sorry to hear about his demise, don’t mean to be disrespectful by laughing-- it was GK’s fault)

Darn it Gary, you beat me to it! :stuck_out_tongue:

Ad, mind you don’t spit that tea when you’re laughing

No.

Johnny Carson was an investor; 500K got him one DeLorean. They are quite amazing vehicles, especially with the gull wing doors.

well, you missed a great movie, part one that is. was my fav movie for a very long time. hahaha…back in 1984 that was…sheesh!

The [movies in the] BTTF trilogy are among the few dvds I’ve been willing to buy as opposed to merely renting.
