Is he perfectly unreachable?disconnected?
Hopefully he’s allright.
I just called and the number is disconnected (or no longer in service)
He doesn’t respond to e-mail messages.
No mailing address is can be found on the website.
Do you have another way to contact him?
Davy called me a few weeks ago, but I wasn’t home to take the call. The last time I talked t him he was VERY busy. He was forced to take a “day job”, plus working on all his orders until the very LATE hours. He was forced off-line by computer failure. Last I spoke with him he had received some very disturbing medical results, and was in need of further tests.
If that is all true (re the phone and email) it seems like a very poor business practice. How can Davy keep upgrading his web site (like new pics on the opening page) and be so out of touch? Is there a chance he’s gone bankrupt, or gotten himself in financial difficulties?
I’m curious how many pipers have sent him $$$ in advance, perhaps downpayments, and never heard from him again? I do know of some.
I’m also waiting for his works(two chanter from him and one which I sent him to reed it).I truley love his work but…
Isn’t there someone who lives near his workshop? The adress I know is

This chap may could help you.
Hi folks, just got off the phone to Davy.
Short version: not dead (or vanished, absconded, divorced, hiding, etc), just late.
Long version: He’s rather mystified by the uncontactability. He’s not changed number or address or anything, so he doesn’t know why people haven’t been able to get in touch.
As Davey noted above, he’s been in for medical tests, and he’s been diagnosed as having ME and multiple fatigue syndrome; a rather nasty combination. He’s been trying to push through and get as much work done as possible, and says there will be a flurry of fulfilled orders round the end of this month (including mine
).
He will be getting back on-line shortly, and no doubt will pop up here to prove that rumours of his demise are greatly exaggerated.
Oh, and he’s still missing a couple of people’s contact details from the computer dying, and so if you’ve not heard from him in long long time, try giving him a shout.
Cheers,
Calum
Good point. Some people rely too much on computers and seldom backup or hard copy important information.
innerhand, thanks for posting Davy’s address.
I received a call from Davy Stephenson today regarding a letter I sent to him. I was unable to reach him by phone but he says his number hasn’t changed. This may be a problem with my (MCI) long distance carrier.
Davy say’s he is working as many hours as his health permits and asks if you had an order with him to contact him again (by phone or mail). All of his correspondence on his computer was lost when the system broke.
He is setting up a new computer and anticipates to be back online soon, with a new e-mail address so don’t send e-mail to the (old) address on the website, either wait for the new e-mail or mail a letter to him.
Hiya folks,
Long time lurker, rare poster…but as Davy is a close friend of mine. I just couldn’t resist the urge to post any longer.
-
Davy Stephenson is perfectly reachable either by phone or mail. NEITHER have been changed nor disconected. I spoke with him at great length last night. And a mutual friend has been speaking with him over the phone regularly to offer medical advice.
-
It’s been mentioned on various occassions that Davy has been offline for some time due to a computer failure. Oh and “how did he update his site” (only once by the way)…hmmm..gosh magic? No. He asked a friend to do it for him.

Lorenzo, your recent post was very poorly done… Usually your posts are responsible and constructive. However, this one was not:
"If that is all true (re the phone and email) it seems like a very poor business practice.
"I do know of some. "
Then let them speak, and give their names. I know of some people that say Lorenzo is a 15 foot tall purple squid…it’s true! The point is: Facts, not hearsay. Details, not vagueries.
The key word here is “IF”. But you made a blanket STATEMENT regarding the reputation and integrity of an individual without first checking your FACTS. If this were a court of law you could not have said any of the above, as you were putting unsubstantiated claims in the minds of the jurors.
I’m curious how many pipers have sent him $$$ in advance, perhaps downpayments, and never heard from him again? I do know of some.
- Davy urges anyone who is concerned to CONTACT HIM DIRECTLY ASAP. If you are unhappy, he can and will fix whatever it is..but cannot do so if you don’t contact him.
I realize this post may offend some. But quite frankly, I get disgusted at the rumor mongering that often goes on online. It’s one of the dread diseases of the internet. It brings gossip to an all time high, almost a disease, and politeness and tact to an all time low.
Davy is indeed quite ill. He has been diagnosed with some not-so-mild medical problems, one of which is cronic fatigue syndrome. Don’t rely on me for the facts about this disorder. Look it up, it can have a crippling effect.
So…excuse me if I offended anyone, it wasn’t an intended insult…
David
Hi Folks,
just to reiterate what Calum and Davey B. have said, if you need to get in touch with Davy Stephenson phone or write. I sent him a letter yesterday with my contact details, not because I felt I needed to but because of the request posted on his behalf by Calum I told him he needen’t respond immediatly just when it best suited him. He phoned me today at lunchtime. Anyone from overseas not wanting to pay for the cost of a long distance call can leave a message and he says he’ll get back to you. While I accept that it’s frustrating to have to wait longer than expected, unforseen circumstances do crop up. I know this from personal experience, 2 years ago I went for a ride on my motorcycle, intending to be gone for a few hours, I ended up in Intensive Care at the local hospital and was off work for 4 months.
Cheers, Mac
Davey, I’m afraid I might have to take offense. As a 15 foot purple squid for several years now, I can assure you that I have never met another one of us named Lorenzo.
You missed the other dread disease of the internet: you don’t know who you’re talking to - could be a rocket scientist, could be a smartass 15 year-old kid. Its impossible to be sure how much weight to give anything anyone on the net says.

Sorry Davey if my questions made you uncomfortable…perhaps it was poorly done. If it’s not true, we can all forget about it, right? ![]()
..or as my students say “..my bad..” (ugh!)
actually, my apologies as well Lorenzo, I certainly shouldn’t have singled you out as I did, especially not “in public”… Just frustrated with the situation. And as I’ve stated before, Davy is dear friend, and I’m quite concerned for him and his health.
Nice to hear that Davy is OK. I’m now writing a letter to him.
More than 2 months ago Davy kindly loaned two of his products .
His own C chanter and the Student chanter. He loaned me his C chanter before placing an order so that I could try them(My hands are very very small). He also loaned me his student chanter while my chanter
stay in his workshop for adding keys.
I have nothing to compare with but can tell every one that his C chanter
has a very sweet tone, and his Student chanter is very reasonable but sounds same as his deluxe version. ![]()

..I feel horrible, I’m responsible for a giant squid committing suicide! (a 40ft. giant squid washed up on a spanish beach today) It must have heard I compared it to our very own Lorenzo!

Alas, poor Peidro, I knew him well.
“washed up?” That must be the very first practice set I tossed out in the
ocean…I think it was “fed up.” Nice to hear the thing survived and
matured on it’s own. You can have it, Davey.
Might make good bait.
