So what happened? This item has been removed.
I was hoping to get some idea of a valuation for one of my Williams chanters.
Any of you Ebay experts like to explain.

I dunno… the seller could have gotten a good offer for it, and just pulled it from the listing to save the chap from a bidding war. Its happened before.
Either that, or it could have been reported if someone knew it was a scam.
At 4 pm yesterday that was 3 hrs afor the end o the auction it stood at £971.I too was interested in how much it would go for as I have a Williams..with two extra keys…kerchink £$£$£$£$

I sold my Williams chanter with two keys as a half set with Ken Fisher drones for £75.00
But of course that was in olden dayz…
(pre- Titanic/American involvement) 
The chanter sold for £1,224.00 (approx. US$2,450).
You mean, the 18th century? 
(before Titanic there was Riverdance, and before that, Bothy Band/Planxty/Chieftains, and before that, Touhy… IOW ‘Titanic’ was but one of a series of blips of popular interest in the US. Surely without “American involvement” there would not have been the Taylor brothers in Philly and Michael Egan in New York… and what of O’Neill’s Chicago?)

Some poeple have more money than sense (jeez I am one to talk). That is more than what half sets have been selling for recently on ebay
I got a single keyed Mark van Daal chanter for less than that (with a de Kayser Bb full set thrown in).

Seems that ebay detected a problem in the last moments of bidding and the chanter has been relisted (with a higher start price than last time).
Maybe the price it goes for might be more sensible this time.

Ok I perhaps I should have said before the film Titanic not when the ship actually went down 
I meant the time when in the UK/Ireland you could buy a Williams or a Howard chanter for £100 from the maker, way after Planxty/Chieftains started up, in fact Planxty had already disbanded when I bought the Williams chanter.
Whatever is bid or paid is entirely a matter between the buyer and seller.It is also a question of the worthiness of the item.I remember eyebrows being raised when Cillian started to sell his chanters at 1K Euros,but no one today would bat an eyelid at paying £1k if’n they wanted one.
Likewise a lot of people pay a lot o money for a lot o crap but that is their business entirely.
Bargains do come along but surely thats what makes them bargains…
