Dale Wisely -- Dr. WhOA!

Sorry about the poor quality of the picture – best I can do!

Note from moderator: I edited this original post to show the pic. For awhile, it was not visible, thus the posts below that deal with the previous invisibility of said picture.

Dale

One of the best looking red X’s I’ve seen…

LOL! That’s a good one!

Y’all, if you can’t see it, right click on the red X (or whatever broken image sign you get). Choose “copy image location.” Paste that into your locater bar and hit “enter.” This is evidently hosted at one of those sites that doesn’t accept remote linking.

Redwolf

Sorry, Redwolf; thanks for the tip, but I sorta like the red “X”. Very dada.

Hmm, for some reason these instructions don’t work for me either. I don’t get the option to “copy image location.” Darn.

All the Best, Tom

The X is nice. However, I think it’s the drop shadow that really gives it character.

I saw the picture finally but…I don’t get it!
Mike

Neither do I. I will say though that Dale appears to be very tall in the photo.

All the Best, Tom

Obviously a case or TMT or NETD sydrome!

It’s a take off on the old BBC sci-fi series Dr. Who. It was one of the longest running sci-fi series, maybe about 25 years. The doctor would travel in a time machine called a TARDIS (time and relative dimensions in space) disguised as a British police box, accompanied by one or several companions. The doctor would “regenerate” from time to time, giving a story line for when an actor would leave the series. Seven actors played the doctor before the series ended.

Here’s a picture of the Doctor and his companion. (no red X’s this time  )

Now I feel really ancient . A British cult television series … Tardis …

Thanks for the clarification. I’m definitely old enough to recall the show, but I don’t think I ever watched it- even though I spent 3 years in London in the early 80’s.

Tom

Dr. Who started in nov. 1963-I can remember being an avid viewer as a five year old,and I sometimes watch the re-runs on U.K.Gold as a 45 year old!
As the series progressed, the writers became very aware of it’s ‘cult’ status,so it often featured ‘in-jokes’ for the cognescenti (no,They AREN’T a menace from Space like the Daleks or the Cybermen! )
The BBC have a vast website on the series.

My hubby and I were really poor when we were dating, so an “evening” for us consisted of buying some cheap snacks and sitting around his apartment all evening watching “Dr. Who” and “The Prisoner.”

Interestingly enough, “Dr. Who” is now big among my daughter’s peer group (4th, 5th and 6th graders)…so now I’m really hip!

Redwolf

I can remember the first episode being shown on British T.V. (I was about ten at the time)
A lot of people knew actor/producer Patrick MacGoohan as ‘Dangerman’(a British secret agent)from his previous starring role, and probably expected ‘more of the same’.
I remember that after the episode finished,my mum said “WHAT was THAT all about??” :astonished:
I don’t think that we ever got the answer to that one…

I seem to recall it being on when I lived there, 81 - 84, but “sci-fi” was not my thing, so I never had the pleasure.

All the Best, Tom

Darn!

I was guessing that it was Dale’s virtual English vacation.

And I have a broken right click (not caused by my son impatiently yanking at the mouse and jamming the cable across it THIS time..).

That sounded vaguely threatening, somehow, like being told to take a flying leap.

I just did it, actually and saw the picture. Not to nitpick, but, no long scarf- no time travel.
