Dale in the Salt River Review

My first published piece of short fiction. This piece existed as a narrative poem for awhile and it finally occurred to me it would be better in prose so I rewrote it. I’m gratified to see it accepted:

Very nice Dale! Congratulations.

happy thanksgiving

32-oz is more than a pint!! Can people really drink that much Pepsi? :astonished:

Nice Story!

Great story. I love the everydayness of the language. Congratulations and happy thanksgiving, yes!

Carol

Congratulations,

A very tidy piece of work.Lovely.

Slan,
D.

Congratulations!

I’ve been in the same position with the poetry I write but I don’t want it to be a short story, thus I leave it as it is.

But you did a great job of fleshing it out.

MarkB

Oh yes. (And thanks for taking note of that little detail).

Drinks of that size are in fact available in many American establisments.

Referring now to McDonalds:

A small regular soda 16oz ~ 150 calories)
medium 21oz ~ 210 calories)
Super Size 42oz (410 calories),

Or for the biggy, instead of a soda, you go with a 32oz Triple Thick Shake, that would add another 1140 calories!

Dale

Good on you Dale, nice work!

Very nice encapsulation of the frustrating mystery of love.

What he said!

HeySue

Good story in a good pub. Congratulations.

Must be a guy thing. I could never have gotten over the littering.

When I read the topic of this thread I thought you fell into the river or something. Now I see that it’s a literary rag that published your prose. Congratulations . . . it’s probably more fun than falling into the river.

Great job, Dale! Congratulations!

Wow… interesting to say the least! I enjoyed reading that!

Contratulations, Dale! Excellent, evocative piece. All except that bit about the “seedy podiatry clinic”…

Maybe Dale meant that he is growing iPods from seed in the attic.

MarkB

Oh yeah, a guy can definitely get past the littering.

Yesterday I couldn’t get the link to the Salt River Review to open. The message kept telling me (twice) that the page couldn’t be displayed. WELL, I just tried again and they let me in. I have to agree with everyone else, Dale, it’s truly a nice piece of writing. But, then, I’ve always had a thing for chicks who walk on the wild side.

Some of my best friends are seedy podiatrists.
