CP: Weston Whistles Review

Tony Hinnigan recently prepared a comparison video of blackwood whistles from the Oz, Rose and Abell stables. This got me thinking because I had just completed a blackwood whistle of my own which I bring to the market at under £100. Given the great difference in price between my and the aforementioned instruments, I invited Tony to play mine to see if there is any sort of comparison with these other, quite stunning examples of the craft.

Now, I have no intention to attempt to put myself into the same league as these guys, my instruments are aimed at those players who are looking for a move into the world of wooden whistles but who dont want to or can’t afford the premium prices of premium instruments. However, the review speaks for itself and I invite you to draw your own conclusions.

I shoud say though, that the price Tony refers to is not the price I charge for exotic woods, £60 is for the ‘hedgerow’ woods such as cherry, hawthorn, yew etc. and the mouthpiece that he suspects is silver, is infact polished aluminium.

enjoy!

Incidentally,

I am tempted to send this whistle off on a tour. However, it has a prospective home so if it does go, I want to keep it very tight and short. If you want to try it yourselves, let me know but more importantly, let me know why!
