Zowie! Got back in my shop to discover someone had stolen my refrigerator ($1500) while the landlord was “inspecting” and inadvertently left the back dock open. Great. Well, he gives me free rent for a few months now.
The machinery is on the benches, the power is getting checked out, and I am looking forward to fulfilling orders that have been hanging while I was in Dalton.
And out of this, I have a new policy. I don’t accept orders unless I have whistles available to ship same day. I’ll be carrying an inventory - something I’ve never even attempted - but this has been a harsh lesson, and I have some extremely patient customers to thank for not turning my 2-month absence into a debacle of the proportion of poor John M.'s when both his health and his friends failed him. Thanks to Mitch of Oz Whistles, particularly. And to Phil who has informed me that I’m “not getting out of” building him a whistle by the simple expedient of a refund! LOL.
So, soon as the electrical guy gets outta my way, I’m firing up! I have a good double-handful of instruments already fippled and voiced, now just need to tune and drill.
It’s good to be back!
