Well, I’m in my digs in Alpharetta GA, set up to the point at which I can make some of the whistles again, so here is the latest news from Serpent Music.

I am building the Village Smithy in more than 1 key now. You can order it from the website in soprano D and E-flat, and alto A and B-flat.

I am now using black acetal plastic (Delrin brand name) in the fipple plug in all new builds of the VS.
The first decision was prompted by requests for the alto keys, and the second by my getting into a chunk of cedar that swelled up uncharacteristically, causing me to have to work on a few whistles that had already been sold. I strongly prefer that my customers get a whistle and love it forever, without having to send it back for tweaks after a week of play.
The weather here has turned nice, and I’m building whistles, and St. Patrick’s Day is right around the corner.
