CP? Norland Wind coming concerts......

I was asked to jump in at the deep end and am playing 4 gigs from this Thursday around Germany. The fun/tough thing is that I only get to meet the band for one reheasal the day before the 1st gig.

The band is called Norland Wind which an Irish/German band and some really good musicians play in it. The whistle player Ian Melrose is also an excellent guitar player and is double booked for a guitar festival for the first four days of their tour, hence me. He also plays in a couple of other projects. Thomas Loefke is the harp player and I think founder of the band and writer of some of their music. Maire Breathnach is on fiddle, viola and sings and also an excellent tune writer. Branohm is one of them and it was a good excuse to learn it properly and on low D. Kerstin Blodig as a singer, bouzouki, guitar, bodhran, mandolin player and song writer. Matthias Kiessling on keyboards and Padraig and Noel Duggan from Clannad on vocals, guitar, mandolin and percussion.

If anyone is around Koenigswinter, Muenster, Beelitz (Berlin) or Cuxhaven from Thursday to Sunday it would be great to say “Hi” and have a chat. More about the band here www.norlandwind.de, they all have side and solo projects going.

I am really looking forward to play with them…

Thanks Berti

I have an early start tomorrow to fly to Berlin, rehearse and the next day drive back to this side again for the first one. No doubt I will get to see a lot of the country side in the coming days…

Have fun, Colin! I hear from Brigitte that you’ve been practicing quite a bit… =)

Yep! I don`t want to turn up looking like a complete prat not knowing what I am supposed to do especially with a few long solos. One tune I have been having problems with although I can play most of it now is in 5/8 which changes to 6/8 then to 4/8 before going back to 5/8 :boggle:

It is certainly a challenge learning a lot of tunes to performing standard in a relatively short time frame and even a couple from sheet music.
