Gregor,

Nice site. I particularly liked the photos of the before and after flute repair. Am curious as to what method you use for “correcting” antique flute from 432 to 440 (new headjoint or barrel?). Are these the flutes from a Polish source that have been cropping up on e-bay periodically?

Incidently you can set a hot-link to your site like this: http://gtmusicalinstruments.com/repair.php?lang=en

Gregor - nice sounding folk flute and nice playing! I’m sure others will be curious, but what is your price on your keyless folk flute?

Also, what is your price for your renaissance flute?

Eric

Like Eric, I looked all over the attractive website, but I couldn’t find any prices.
Do you have a price list, Gregor?

Gregor:

I can’t find any prices on your site. I am a cornett player (as well as the flute) and am interested in your cornetto muto and your shawm.

Pat

There’s one listed on ebay here:

[ Commercial post combined with previous thread. - Mod ]

I’m kind of picky about shopping at stores where none of the items are clearly priced. My usual reaction is to do an about face and walk out of the store or exit the website. I simply am not going to ask the salesperson, “What is the price of this?”. If I had grown up with a bartering economy, I might feel different about this.

I’m in this with Doug… the best way to access the potentially customer or buyer is to make things as easy as possible.

It’s one thing for a big commercial enterprise, but another entirely for a small-scale craftsman. His prices may depend on the type of wood he’s working in, and possibly on the quality of the individual piece of wood.

FWIW, I emailed with a pricing question and heard back promptly. The flute is on its way.

oo-o… i’m trying to be good, and only have one flute… but my FlOA really gets to me sometimes; if you don’t mind, would you post a review after you get it? it’s a balm to my weary soul…

cheers,
eric

Charlie, you are so impetuous! Good man!

Well, I just received my flute from Gregor, and I’m very happy!

I bought a PVC renaissance flute from the Sweets’ fire sale, and was disappointed. The intonation was approximate; I didn’t know whether that was intrinsic to the ren flute, on which the tone holes are all pretty much the same size, or whether it was a bad design or just my limitations as a flute player. At this point, I don’t think it’s me, nor is it intrinsic to the renaissance flute. I can play the first octave and a fifth on Gregor’s flute with no embouchure gymnastics at all. Beyond that, (and I know this is intrinsic to the ren flute) I’ll have to get used to the odd fingerings and for some notes either lip things into tune or do some shading of open tone holes. I’m looking forward to learning the ins and outs of this flute.

Gregor has been a good person to deal with, very responsive, eager to please, and prompt.

Thanks for the hands-on info, Charlie.
