OK - before I get blasted:
I’ve done the obligatory forum search, and though it may be in there somewhere, I have not been able to find the answer to my question, so here goes:
What whistle, and in what key, is Cormac Breatnach using on the very first tune of Whistle and Guitar called Through the Fields ?
I’m thinking Bnat? Because when I try to play along, C doesn’t get it and Bb doesn’t quite do it either.
Unfortunately, I don’t have a Bnat whistle, to try. (anyone have one for sale or trade?)
Also, I downloaded the album from eMusic (paid for it), but they don’t provide any liner info, just the music.
Thanks,
LEE

In JC’s tune finder there are two entries keyed in G.

Thanks Silvano
But, I have the music.
I want to be able to play along with the CD, but none of my whistles match what ever he is using.

Chances are that the recording or the player you are using is a bit off tune for that … many newer players have an adjustment for fine tuning, and you may be able to get it up or down a bit to match what you have.

I can play along with that tune on a B natural whistle… not as good as Cormac, but well enough to confirm the key!
I didn’t catch any notes going lower than the range of a normal B natural whistle, and it’s a fairly safe bet that Cormac was playing a Susato… not much trouble or expense to get a brand new one.
