Copeland low G for sale

Now that the main board is up, I’m repeating my post:

I’m selling my Copeland low G (brass). It’s about a year old, mint condition, a beautiful “chiffy” tone. I had a thumb hole drilled in it which you can use or keep covered, and I have the original pouch.

On the Copeland site these whistles are advertised as on sale at $339.30, regular price $377. I am asking $300 for mine.

Please contact me via pm on this board or the email in my profile if you’re interested.

Thanks,
Carol

Sorry Carol, I’m not on the market for a G right now.
However…

I’m intrigued: is it a recorder vent for octave jump?
or a minor 7th (i.e. Cnat on a D whistle, i.e. …now let me think… right, F nat) ?
And did Copeland drill this hole on your request?

I bet it’s one of those c-natural holes, or in this case, an f-natural hole. Although why they would be called that is beyond me, those dreadful thumbholes being nothing but unnatural and against the Divine Order of His Creation.

The road to Hell is paved with thumb-holes…

Zubivka,

Jim Rementer at Copeland drilled it on request, yes. And yes, it’s for the flatted 7th, the F natural. I like the flexibility it provides since you can use it or not–half holing and cross fingering also still work, of course, as long as the thumb hole is covered. It’s right where the left hand thumb rests anyway, so it’s easy to ignore as well. Thanks for asking.

Carol

hehe, just saw Bloomfield’s post, added while I was writing…am consulting my counsel for appropriate reply :really:

Hi, Bloomie.

Nice to see you. I was afraid I had offended you with my “Does your mother know you’re over here making trouble?” comment. (By the way, DOES she know you’re over here making trouble?)

Best wishes,
Jerry

P.S. Many thanks from the elves for the several rounds of drinks you’ve sent over.

Jerry, my friend, you’ll have to work a bit harder than that to offend me.

As for my mother: I don’t think she knows. When I took up the whistle she cut me out of her will and hasn’t spoken to me since (She is a classical pianist). I sent her a Christmas card once, but it came back, unopened.

Hope you’ll pardon the additional post here…just wanted to add that I’m looking to get a minidisc recorder with a mic jack with the proceeds from the whistle, so I’d also be up for a fair trade along those lines.

Thanks.

bump. sorta.

Zooby, I am trying to say this in a nice way, but you are just off your rocker! What are you doing trying to tell Carol, whatever it is that you are trying to tell her? Somebody lucky out there is going to buy that great whistle.

Carol, is that the same one that you recorded a clip with a few months back? (was it the chat room Christmas CD? Is Altzheimers supposed to start at 63 already???). That just sounded awesome. And don’t tell anyone (my reputation, you see) but I think the thumbhole is a neat thing, mostly because of those triplets and the clean f-nat [c-nat] that you can get.

forget it, Bloom.

Mini-disk recorders…

Compressed digital sound? Not intended for reording?

Hmmm… And yet, the sound quality of a recording made on a mini-disk recorder is almost always as good or better than that found on a cd…
Much better than an mp3, and not even in the same league as a tape recorder…

In fact, as for them not being made for quality but just to open a new market… well, that is kind of one and the same. They are a new market, simply ecause there is no where to go with other technology…

Just so I show that I am not biased, I do not own a min-disk recorder. I know three or so people who do, one of whom uses it to record music at the session I go to, and one of whom is a sound technician of much experience (ie he know what sounds good and what doesn’t)

I trust both of their judgements… I probably wont buy one any time soon though…

This is a very good deal.

Wow, woe betide anyone who doesn’t phrase everyything to suit everyone.

Didn’t this just start out as Carol trying to sell a Copeland low G?

Turned into . . . well, what did it turn into.

So, this is a bump, she’s selling her low G, looked like she’s asking around $300 or so.

Minidisc recorders will be on another thread.

Something is happening here, and you don’t know what it is, do you Mr. Wombat?

Well, no, I don’t. What I do know is that a very fine whistle is being offered for sale at a bargain price. So, what are you all waiting for? An auction?

Mr. Wombat, did you bump this a couple of days ago? Just checking.
