For sale: Copeland Low D, brass

Well, tha’ts all there is to it:

Selling my Copeland low D, standard model, numbered series,
with its original bag.

$ 400 plus shipping costs from sunny Bretagne.

All they say about this instrument is true*, but I’ll stick to my BbLC (Breton blackwood Le Coant) which sounds pretty similar.

Hey, I´ve had three Copelands, all with bags made from different victorian curtains… I almost liked the bags better than the whistles, really cool IMO :slight_smile:

The curtain bag seems to be called for…

… the whistle is still available.

Which will teach me never to post such things before a weekend, if I don’t want to come up with such lame excuses for a bump… :blush:

When I was at the Spruce Tree music store in Madison, Wisconsin, I got to play one of the Copeland Low D three piece whistles. The Copeland site says:

“New option when ordering Low D whistles; can be made in three-piece.
The body is split between the 3rd and 4th tone holes”

I’ve never had problems with the reach and the only thing that I see that might be useful is to make a smaller package for traveling. I like it simple though and when I get one it’ll be the regular model. Anybody else have thoughts about this.

I suppose the idea might be that one
can adjust the sections to suit one’s
fingers? -IMHO
these are the best low Ds I’ve
ever played–I mean Copeland
low Ds.

It seems the idea is just making a smaller package. The whistle splits between right and left hand, which I don’t feel makes it more comfortable when the holes aren’t aligned.

My Le Coant Low D is just like this, split between holes 3 and 4. So, you could carry it in an overcoat breast pocket. For long hauls, just make sure the pocket is lined with Cordura or Kevlar: the black Le Coant is just as heavy as the brass Copeland. :smiley:
As is, it’s at least good to keep the instrument warm.

Note: my Copeland is the regular model, not the “split” optional.

Last bump before it gets on eBay the day after tomorrow… if I don’t decide to keep it.
