I discovered a few weeks ago a series of concert videos that are broadcast by VH1 classic. They generally show 5 hour-long concert segments each Friday night. I’m still getting the hang of a new DVR, so I’ve inadvertently lost a couple I really liked. They’re mostly nothing I’m interested in, but there’s one or two a week that are just to die for. Last night we watched Blind Faith (okay), and a Pink Floyd show from probably the 80’s in which they did Dark Side of the Moon straight through. It was really close to the album version, amazingly close, actually, and AFAICT every note was played on stage. (there were at least an extra keyboard, extra guitar, extra percussionist, and three female singers.) In the last few weeks I’ve seen Joe Cocker from around 1980, Paul McCartney, John Lennon, the Who from around 1970 or 71, which featured Keith Moon at his best, and a few others I can’t think of.
I’m so pumped to have found this and that something like this exists.
