Commercial Posting: Handicap Whistle

No, I’m not refering to Golf. Before the advent of Political Correctness, we used to use this word.

I’ve met a few people who have various impairments that prevent them from playing the whistle. Now there has been the idea of making a trombone like whistle - but that’s no fun trying to find the right note.

I discovered that after removing the tuning joint and the tonehole placement could be set so that a sliding tube fits between the fipple window and the top hole. It then slides down to cover one hole at a time.

A person with two hands could hold the whistle tip with one hand and slide the slide tube up and down to play. I could also modify the fipple so that a person with one hand could the whistle in their mouth and slide the tube with one hand.

Currently they are available in the key of High-D, more keys in the near future.

BTW - I will eventually have a Low-D for this and this might be good for people with small hands.

What a thoughtful idea.

I reckon that such a generous development warrants waiving the usual constraints on commercial posts.

Very cool idea! You’re one of the good people, Dan.

The people at Dolmetsch recorders can add keys to their instruments and I believe that if you can document that you have a genuine disability they will do this without charge with the purchase of a new instrument.

Amongst all the greed in the world, it’s nice to hear things like these once in a while.

necessity is the mother of invention

or as my 6-year-old once put it: mother is the necessity of invention

it never ceases to amaze me what people come up with!!

When will somebody make a left-handed whistle?

I got one, Cran…email me offlist :smiling_imp:

That is a great idea Dan.
