Comedy in Commerce

A few years ago I saw a Leunig cartoon that really amused me. He drew a manic looking guy scooting along in a trade van. On the side of the van was the sign ‘DANNY BOY PLUMBERS … the pipes, the pipes are calling.’ I assumed this sort of thing only happened in Leunig’s imagination.

I was wrong. Today while driving through Sydney I noticed a van in the distance with ‘VIAGRA’ in large letters on the back. I thought, that’s a funny sign for a trade van to be wearing. Then I caught up at the next traffic lights. The full sign was: VIAGRA SCAFFOLDING … we can get it up for you.

I wonder how long before Pfizer cracks down on that.

Funny, Flyguy. I was wondering that myself.

I believe this has been posted around here before (probably by me), but it goes well with this thread…

There is a company that sells linoleum in Dublin, i have often seen their van…

“Lino Ritchie” !

There was a company around here called Via Grafix, and they produced instructional videos on how to use the computer. They also were an ISP.

My dad had been corresponding with his aunt by email, from where he lived in the Philippines, and he told us, “it’s hard to believe how bad people are online. My aunt and uncle have an email address that is something sexual.”

Turns out, he was interpreting @viagrafix.com as “Viagra fix.” Of course the Via Grafix company had been around for some years before Viagra… it was just a coincidence.

Now ViaGrafix is called learn2.com

That’s really funny, Walden. Now don’t tell us you don’t have some Waldco stories to share with us on this thread.
