Colin Goldie Soft Whistle Bag Question

Does anybody have the soft whistle bag for multiple whistles, that Colin Goldie has listed on his website? Looking for opinions on pros and cons, it looks like a nice bag.

That design isn’t very good IMO, when folded close, the whistles heads are free to rub against each other and will get scuffed and scarred.

Mr.Blackwood,
I see your concern, but the flap between the two main sections of the bag should minimize to potential for such contact significanty. I am sure with a bit of improvisation that it is one of the few such cases out there at this time. The bag is priced fairly, it is unfortunate that it costs so much for shipment to the USA. I like the full length tubes for six low whistles, nice feature.

The flap between the two sides is quite a good protection, Colin wanted this added so that the instruments on both side cannot touch when closed. It is about half a cm thick and padded.

Regarding the postage, for the case for a short while now there is the chance to send them as small parcels. In the past the measurements of the box needed for it exceeded the max. total size, also small parcel were not trackable nor insured for their contents in case of getting lost or damages. But the Deutsche Post added the possibility to have them trackable and little insured, max. 50 Euros in value can be insured. For sending a single case, this makes a difference now as it not needs to go as a normal insured package. The postage for the case to the US with it being insured would be 18 Euros instead of 32 Euros in the past, which the fully insured parcels are.

Hope this is helpful information and wish you all a good night

Brigitte,
Thank you for your post. Sent you a PM.

I saw the flap between the halves, i am basing my concern on a case a friend of mine had, very similar in appearance. It didn’t have a flap so he put a cloth between the halves for protection, but as the whistles were sticking out so much, they rubbed against their ‘neighbours’ as well.
Brigitte - i am not dissing your case per se, i have just chosen to have one custom made, a rollup design where the whistles go all the way down in their compartments (at the price of quickly getting a whistle out..)
Guess no design is perfect huh

When I read your first post, I thought you never had seen one of the cases in the flesh, hence your comment and me chiming in. This case is custom made to Colin’s wishes and the whistle heads do not rub against each other, it is the third generation and each time we re-ordered, something has been bettered again based on the xperiences Colin had while using them. It is straight lined and does not have anything fancy added to the look but is made to be very practicle and being black makes it also a little inconspicuous to other eyes which I think is a good thing, just considering Colin’s contents of his cases which can be a few thousand in value of instruments in there at a time.

Have a good start in your day and sunny Greetings from Germany

I don’t agree with Mr Blackwood. I’ve used the case for years, full of Goldie whistles, it’s been through much abuse and has survived everything that’s been thrown at it. The whistles do not rub together, I’d thoroughly recommend it.

Again - i have no experience with the actual Goldie case, i wrote ‘a friend of mine had a similar looking one’ ,what do i know.. perhaps the whistles had more leeway in that case, hence the heads rubbing. I am glad this case is better!

Regarding my inquiry about these whistle cases, Brigitte Goldie responded both quickly and with very thorough answers regarding my questions, both in a follow up post and a PM. She has asked Colin to send me some close up photos and information.

I have heard nothing but positive commentary when it comes Colin and Brigitte and their dedication to great customer service and the products they offer. The reputations of the Goldies are certainly supported by their outstanding response to me as a potential customer. Thank you Brigitte and Colin and I am certain I will be contacting you soon to place an order. Thumbs up on great customer service.

I do have the soft whistle bag for multiple whistles from Colin Goldie and use it for all my whistles. It is well made and versatile. It and takes all my whistles, Low C as well as High D and some more. I found no cons.

And, of course, Bigitte’s customer service is great.
