We live in a fast paced world where the number one objective of most businesses focus on profit above all else. I feel that I must give recognition to the outstanding customer service provided by Brigitte and Colin Goldie of Goldie Whistles. Rare is the commodity of a business going the extra mile to meet the needs of their customers, a quality that has been entirely lost in many organizations.
This morning I had the pleasure of speaking with Brigitte Goldie regarding my placement of an order for a Goldie soft multi instrument whistle bag. Though I had previously only communicated with Brigitte via private messages, my phone conversation with her this morning was like talking to a longtime friend. I found Brigitte to be very friendly, extremely helpful and in the know regarding the Goldie product line, articulate, charming, and very accute in her understanding of business and world affairs. Brigitte is a credit to the Goldie firm and to the whistle community at large.
I will soon celebrate my 29th wedding anniversary with my wonderful wife. If I was asked
to summarize how I feel about her, I think I could simply borrow from the Aussies and
angling enthusiasts from all over the world and say “she’s a keeper”. On that note, to Colin
Goldie regarding his most personable wife Brigitte I say Colin, “Briggite is a keeper”.
I would like to add that Colin Goldie was kind enough to take the time to photograph his whistle case from multiple angles to address questions I had regarding the design of the bag along with questions on materials and construction methods used. Colin forwarded the photos to me via email per the request of Brigitte
The quality of Goldie Whistles have a reputation of excellence widely throughout the whistle community and there is little doubt for me the this is directly related to the dedication of Colin and Briggite to their customers, both regular and new ones. The Goldies are a “class act”. Colin and Brigitte are both “keepers”.
YTliek,
I wish I could have added a couple of Goldie Whistles to the order. Not in the cards this time. Hey, your idea is just another reason to speak with Brigitte and Colin again in the future. I do have future aspirations to purchase some additional metal whistles in some keys I don’t have now.
Right now I am suffering from a sever case of WHOA and my only cure maybe the aquisition of additional whistles in the keys of A, Bb, G. At least one of my future whistle additions will be in wood (just have to try it).
I know that my time spent playing has increased dramatically and that I play with more focus. Often while not playing, I am running through Trad tunes in my mind or listening to such recordings. I am going to get in the habit of carrying a whistle with me wherever I go (as may be practical) and taking advantage of every moment I can play.
I do have a strong feeling that any future purchase of a metal whistle will lean toward a Goldie(s).
Bogmam - Just a matter of time on the Goldie my friend.
Ytliek - Brigitte sent me a PM saying my Goldie multi whistle soft bag should be leaving Germany today. She had not shipped one of these to the USA yet, but the main question was if the parcel would sit in Customs very long? Brigitte said she would send me a traking number to monitor the shipment until delivery. She said I would be their guinea pig for the testing of shipment of these bags.
It is important to note that Brigitte discovered a change is postal reglations that make the shipment of their product much more economical than indicated on the Goldie website. My whistle bag order is the test case for this new shipping method. Also note that the VAT tax mentioned does not apply outside the European Union.
Colin uses this same bag to transport many of the whistles he uses at gigs and the bag has afforded his whistles ample protection.
So Ytliek, cure that WHOA and order up a Goldie bag and start filling it with some Goldies ! I am sure both Brigitte and Colin will be willing to work with you and will take every measure to make your Goldie experience a pleasure. Dangerous, very dangerous.
Whoa, wait a minute… I didn’t know that just buying the whistle bag counts for anything, especially fulfilling as “WHOA” and I’m not sure that’s a cure
Steve - Guilty as charged. I figure a nice case to protect and organize my whistles is a smart investment. I liked the Goldie design and the ability to carry up to 6 low whistles in it along with several high whistles. I must also confess that in addition to my recent MK low
D, I also aquired another low D and low F.
The O’Brien Rover set was a “git her done” move as I knew that once I had the high D from David, I would eventually want the C and Eb. I just figured I would spring for the set now and not look back. Me thinks there shall be no regrets.
As mentioned, I have plans for some other whistle aquisitions in mind. I have no intentions of going pro, nor do I look to drive up prices, on the contrary I was able to make some purchases of quality whistles at some real great prices. In that regard, I am just doing my part for sustainability and stimulating the economy. T’is me patriotic duty .
Recent earnings have fortified my personal coffer and I am petrified that any immediate desire to exercise self control regarding my case of WHOA may be doomed.
Ltiek - I did manage to resist having the Goldies put me on the list for one of their whistles at this time. Not easy mind you!
I will be spending some real quality time with my whistles so I thought they might as be great ones.
Thank you, but any attempts at an intervention to curtail my WHOA could get ugly.
No worries regarding a Bodhran. I had ample opportunity to buy some beauties on my last trip to Ireland and managed to resist. i think if I am to suffer in the throws of carpal tunnel, it shall be due to time spent on my whistles. Rimshot.
