Clean Yer Tooter

I recently recieved a whistle (on a consignment or a trade-in or some such thing) made by a well-respected maker who’s work I know and love.

The thing was just terrible!..Wheezy, gorky and unresponsive…super flakey in the second octave etc…

I couldn’t believe it. I’d never played a tooter by this maker that wasn’t just wonderful. I took it apart to investigate and found much gunk it the windway. After cleaning it out the thing plays like a dream.

Anyway, just a reminder that the little rascals require some maintenance. If you have a whistle that won’t whistle like a whistle oughtta whistle try a good cleaning before you unload it.

Unless, of course, you’re going to unload it to me.

Cheers,

Doc

Yeah, just unload it to Doc. Then I get to try it!!!

:smiling_imp:

Hmmmm. Yes, whistles do seem to sound better when you clean 'em out.

Hmm, deja vu all over. Just this morning I realized that my favorite whistle just wasn’t sounding or acting right. A quick inspection revealed something that would make a plumbers heart sing. Things sure can build up when you don’t pay attention.
