Cillian played at a session last night in NYC at the landmark. Hell of a nice fellow. Chatted it up a bit about pipes. And he was kind enough to sign my cast. Cheers Cillian brilliant piping.
I absolutely second that. I met Cillian last summer where we chatted about numerous subjects. I found him to be extremely nice and very down to earth. This must be a prerequisite for becoming a “famous” piper, as I can’t recall meeting one that I didn’t feel this way about.
Wow when he plays it looks so effortless. Amazing. Great sounding pipes. Been playing since he was 7. I just started at 44. So using that equation I’ll be dead by the time I’m that good.
He is really great… and very generous with his time and advice. I’ll never forget some of his tips… especially from the SE Tionol last year in Atlanta… which is that being a good musician has a lot to do with tuning and timing.
Saw this through John Maze who saw it by way of Bruce Childress… enjoy!
