Cillian O'Briain low d: I like it.

I bought the O’Briain low d that someone on C&F sold recently, and I’ve been playing it for a week or so. I first played one of his low d’s in Ireland while visiting a fellow C&Fer in Tralee. I loved the way it played, so I jumped on the chance to buy one.
I really like the way it plays. It takes more breath than I remember, but nothing like the Shaw low d I have. I’ve been playing a keyless Olwell for twenty-some years, but I like the low whistle to switch to every now and then. It makes practicing a little easier, I think.

I uploaded the last set of tunes I played this morning:
(Let me know what you think}.
I did add a wee bit of reverb to the recording. I hope that’s okay.

Nice playing mate  …you have ‘the lilt’ ..
Whistle sounds nice too…

I enjoyed that

Thankyou for posting your clips.

How long did it take you to learn that piece???

Thanks everyone for the positive comments.

I’d guess it took a week to learn each tune and several weeks to get it all up to speed.

I don’t know the name of the first tune.
Second tune is Lost and Found (Castlebar Races, etc.)
The third tune is Hag at the Churn.

I learned the second and third tune from a Paddy Keenan
