Chris Norman and Rod Cameron on NPR Now (Mountain Time)

You’ll probably just catch the tail end… but a great interview.

Cheers,

Missed it ! Darn it ! Is there any way to hear it online ???

Darn!

The program referred to was on the weekly NPR program called “The Thistle and Shamrock” and was program #1100, The master (Chris Norman) and the maker (Rod Cameron). You can access this program by going to NPR.org and typing in Chris Norman in the search box. The audio of the program isn’t up yet but should be in a day or so.

Best wishes and happy fluting,
Doug Tipple

Hi,
They don’t carry the Thistle and Shamrock out here in LA anymore. :sniffle: I used to enjoy listening to Feona, love the accent!
Jon

I’d be keen to hear it,once it’s online.I’ve just recieved Chris’‘Caledonian Flute’ album,so that interview is quite timely from my point of view.

Do they sell recordings of broadcast shows? I guess not, because it would be a nightmare for copyright issues. If anyone has a recording that would like to sell of barter with me, please PM me.

Hi Jack,

Thanks for your email. Many public radio stations are streaming their programming, so you can go to a station website at the time they air T&S and listen online. Unfortunately, most air us on Sat and Sun, but here are a few weekdays you can try:

Wednesday kamu-fm.tamu.edu
College Station, TX KAMU-FM 90.9

Wednesday www.ksut.org
Durango, CO KSUT 89.9

Thursday www.wxpr.org
Rhinelander, WI WXPR-FM 91.7

Friday www.weos.org
Geneva, NY WEOS-FM 89.7

If you’d like a list of stations including web addresses and the T&S air times, just let us know your postal address and we’ll send it right out.

Hope you get a chance to listen online!

Cheers,
The Thistle & Shamrock Staff

I agree with Jack that the streaming audio at the time of the broadcast is the way to go to listen to the program. Sorry that I gave wrong information about about the audio being available. What actually is available are playlists of each program. However, for the program being referred to, there is a very nice print article by the flute maker, Rod Cameron. Some of NPR programs do provide the audio for certain programs. For example, the “Performance Today” programs done within the PT studio are usually made available in full on the website. Programs comprised of various recorded pieces are not available for copyright reasons.

However, if you want to get a idea about what a certain recorded CD is like, you can go to an online store and listen to excerpts from the CD. For example, at www.barnesand noble.com you can listen to 30 second excerpts from every band on Chris Norman’s “The Man with the Wooden Flute”. You can read comments from others about the CD, and you can leave your own if you feel like it.

Happy fluting,
Doug Tipple

mark your calendars…another worthwhile Thistle & Shamrock installment will be in Sept. from the sounds of it…

September 9 | Week 37/Show #1110
Flute & Whistle
Matt Molloy (Ireland), Chris Norman (USA), and Jean Michel Veillon (Brittany) make up a lively hour of music lifted on Celtic whistles, including the haunting low whistle and the traditional wooden flute.

Sheesh, three of my favorite muscians of all time at once!!! :astonished:

Cheers,
