Well, God willing, I will be in England November 5-11. I’ll be hanging with my man Norman Dannatt and touring Clarke Tinwhistle. The flight is booked. With sufficient interest, I’m hoping we can assemble a gathering of UK C&F members. Let’s begin here, trying to guage interest, and then, in the Fall, I’ll send something out to the newsletter email list.
Hmm.. 5th November eh? We could meet in the cellars beneath the Houses of Parliament,Barrels of Gunpowder optional!
Seriously though,It would be kind of interesting to meet fellow Astronauts-I mean Chiff’n’Fipplers- in the flesh!
Pencil me in for after the 5th- I have tickets to see Bill Wyman’s Rhythm Kings in Newcastle that night (yes,THAT Bill Wyman!).
Registering an interest…unless it’s in London which is in a crazy place for most of the UK and wall to wall traffic. Somewhere in the middle…and a weekend? Don’t ask a lot
Where in London were you thinking, Dale?
Hey, maybe the Positively Testcard has a gig around that time! My wife went for a visit there in early June, but I’ve never made the trip…
Well, Norman lives in Kent, and I believe that’s where the Clarke factory is. I’m open to guidance about a meeting place that would work for most. I’ll be there over a weekend, so that should work.
Nano using his best Cliff Claven voice:
Um, Blackhawk, “gage” is something one smokes at the risk of legal entanglement. Nowadays fallen out of usage, it was a common term in, I believe, the '20s and '30s.
Kent might have been an option, given that that’s where the Channel Tunnel (direct rail link from Brussels) pops up, but it looks as if I’ll be many miles away in Greece that weekend.
I see no reason at this juncture why I should not be able to attend.
I kind of favour London as a venue, all the railways and roads seem to lead there, but then I’m crazy.
Just back from WC Week, literally about an hour ago, and I want to tell you all about it but my brane is smush right now from lack of sleep and travel weariness so I’ll have to hold off for a couple of days.
Met up with Avanutria, Azalin, Eldarion and MurphyStout, made a bunch of new friends (and we might have some new recruits to the cause), had a total blast, and I might have learnt a thing or two about whistling too.
Glad you had such a good time. By road from here is in excess of six hours. Mostly wall to wall traffic. Birmingham is more central…worth a few nanos thought maybe and pretty accessible. Must be more than two of us over in the West…
