Chiff and Fipple Shirts

Just a note to all of you out there who HAVEN’T gotten a C&F shirt yet! GET ONE! I was a bit skiddish having purchased some really bad cloghitn over the internet before, but let me put your fears to rest!

These shirts are heavy duty quality, but very soft and comfortable. They breathe well, (which is a GOOD thing when you live in a desert!) and don’t shrink a ton.

I got the long sleeve version with the whistle girl painting. LOVE IT!

Well Dale, there’s your shameless promo plug! Check’s in the mail right?!

Seriously, these are great shirts!

Brian~

I am always hestitant to buy anything right over the net but if you say it’s cool I will go for it. A Chiff member in the Detroit area has one–niffty.

I have an idea for another design whistle T-search if anyone is interested.

Take your favourite whistle, copy the design of its body for the long sleeves, and have a fipple styled hat.

That way you will be immediately recognized in any session as a member of the Chiff and Fipple society and a serious whistler.

Mark

I think if I wore that, they’d beat me up!

I’d love to get one, they look good and the price for the shirt is fair BUT THE INTERNATIONAL POSTAGE IS OUTRAGEOUS! At 4 times the US domestic postage, and increasing the price of the shirt by 225% I’m afraid it’s just too much.

I know, I know Champ

I live next door in Canada, and with the low Canadian dollar ($1.45 US) then duty on top of that, then our provincial sales tax piled on top, everything gets to be to dear to purchase. I paid roughly $225.00 CDN for my Burke low G whistle. The word OUCH doesn’t quite sum it up.

Oh Brian, I have an idea for a foamy type thing bodhran hat, just like the cheese heads wear in Greenbay. Any takers?

Mark

Several comments:

The T shirts are nice - but I wish they’d offer another base color than, or at least in addition to, white.

Champ - you might find it cheaper to have a friend in the USA buy one and ship it to you. Shipping charges woould be much less. If the issue of currency is too big a hassle, you could always exchange items with no cash involved.

Mark - Your costume suggestion is versatile in that by using a nice Clare green for the hat, you could also use it to play Santa’s elf in the local Christmas pageant. I’d never wear it for two reasons. With my build they’d never know it was a whistle. Everyone’d think I was an ocarina. Besides, I agree with Brian. If I wore something like that, I’D beat me up!

About Chiff & Fipple shirts: Cafepress, the company though which these are made available, has dramatically improved their line of offerings, including, by the way, new base colors. However, I need to find time to set up the new stores. I have a new design I want to do based on the logo at the top of the page. I just can’t seem to find the time. Maybe soon.

I let CafePress know they’d lost my business because their international shipping prices were too high. They sent a reply saying that their international shipping prices would drop dramatically next week, so if anyone else is thinking of buying one … wait a few days.

Champ did they say how they have dropped their rates. If not I will have to use the irish underground. What is odd is that I’m sitting here looking at Detroit Michigan, one mile across the river, and were I spend a lot of my time—but I must remember that to US Costums I an Alien, which leads me to rethink the idea of a new tinwhistle t-shirt I thought up.

For Chuck_Clark, if you are an ocarina then if I wore what I thought was neat design, I could be misinterpreted to be a lawn sprinkler, with something from another posting on what to do with Low whistles etc., etc.

I’ve ordered from CafePress before…
Not a Chiff and Fipple shirt (it was a Cthulian take-off of ‘hello kitty’), but I was very happy with their quality. I’ve had the shirt about 8 months, the color is still vibrant, the transfer hasn’t peeled. It’s in great shape. I suggest following all washing instructions they provide.

I was also very happy with their customer service. One of the shirts (i bought 2) did not arrive, and they sent me a new one without any wrangling necessary.

Greg

Mark - they didn’t say exactly how much the new prices would be, here’s what I was sent …

Thank you for your e-mail.

Next week, we will be lowering our International shipping fees considerably.
(more than half!). Please check back with us.

She’s a “Customer Experience Manager”? sigh

I love CafePress.com very much, but they must have come up with that title by implementing a strategy of thinking outside the box going forward.

Sarah
(who loves her C&F shirt)
(and can’t think outside the box 'cos she works in one)

Chuck,

I am with you. If the T-shirt came in black I would have bought it.

Dale,

What about a C&F cap? just like the one you have (although I have reservations about the pink)

I’de get a C&F cap, but no shirt until he gets a 6x or 7X size in! I’m sure I’d sleep in that oversized shirt for the next ten years, if I keep dreaming “Maggie in the Woods” until I get it!

Do they have one with Jessie on the front?

July 17th CafePress told me their international shipping prices would drop “next week”.

Here we are Sept. and they have not moved 1 cent.

Email Joni, your Customer Experience Manager, and see what she has to say about that.

“…this feature is unfortunately taking longer to set up than we
anticipated.”

I’m sure it’s not her fault, but I get really annoyed at businesses that over-promise and under-deliver. It has done little to give me confidence in CafePress.
