Hello Everyone. This is my first post, but I’ve been hanging around here for awhile taking in all the great info. I’m selling my Chieftain Low D that I bought in Ireland a couple of months ago. It’s still like new-- I’ve played it maybe a dozen times. The sound is great–I just don’t have the s-t-r-e-t-c-h required to play due to some nerve damage in my hand. I paid around E140.00 (maybe too much, but I was on vacation…) and will sell for $100.00 with plus Shipping. ![]()
Email me at retrogirl35@yahoo.com if interested. I plan to post this on ebay in a couple of weeks, but I wanted to give this board first opportunity.
If it was your first low whistle, you might like to know that most low whistlers didn’t get comfortable with their instrument after just a dozen tries… Your Chieftain needs average reach: it takes more effort than whistles designed specifically for ease (oft at the expense of tone) but less than many high enders (designed exclusively for tone and power).
I’m a guy with normal to small hands, and it took several months of daily playing and stretching my hands…
…I do know that the low whistle takes much more practice than I’ve put into it, but one of my fingers has been mostly severed and sewn back on resulting in loss of strength, sensation and flexibility. While I appreciate the advice, all the practicing in the world won’t make up for the fact that it is just plain painful for me to play it for more than a few minutes at a time. It’s too heavy. And it’s too big…space is a precious commodity for me.
Sooo…I really need to sell and I’ll certainly consider any reasonable offers. Thanks much!
