Chicago Tionol 2003

Does anyone know if there are piping classes, workshops, lessons, etc… set up for the Chicago tionol? I could only find the Celtic Fest Info and the 2002 tionol info on the web.

Schedule for Celtic Fest is here if you’re interested:

Thanks!

** Chicago Uilleann Piper’s Gathering 2003 **

Over the last several years we have held a formal piper’s tionol in conjunction with the Chicago Celtic Fest weekend. These events have been successful but because there are an increasing number of great opportunities for quality “classroom” piping instruction (Mississippi River Celtic Music Festival - http://www.tionol.org/home.html and the Al Purcell Memorial weekend http://www.alpurcell.com, to name just a couple), we have decided to try a different approach this year.

Those of you who have attended the Fest in prior years will remember that there is a stage dedicated to UPs. We have decided get some grub to share, and have some tunes and craic in the park area just behind the stage. Informal lessons for anyone interested should be available from the variety of “hometown” Chicago pipers (and anyone else who might care to show up and share some knowledge) from about 10AM through the early afternoon on Saturday Sept. 14th. We will plan to have dinner and some tunes on Saturday evening at Chief O’Neill’s - http://www.chiefoneillspub.com at 9:00pm. There won’t be a shortage of Irish music in Chicago this weekend!

One of our primary goals this year is to strengthen the relationships between pipers in the Chicago area, but Everyone is welcome! Just so we don’t run out of refreshments, if you are planning to show up please let us know via email at: KELLAMR@BCBSIL.COM

Best of luck in your piping!

BTW I’m playing on Saturday at 1:30PM so I hope to see a few familiar faces and maybe meet some new ones.

I’m going play a new set of BK & DMQ B pipes on their first official gig, the first of many for them, I hope. Couldn’t be happier with them

Hello Pat. So, you got 'em! Congratulations!

Thanks again for the attaboy Lewis.

Just trying to keep this in everyone’s awareness for a few more days…

Hi Pat,

Any snaps of the set for the Koehler & Quinn page on my website?

PD.

Not yet, but I’ll make sure to send you some pictures for the K&Q page.

Nice one… and congratulations! BBBBBBBBBBBBB!

Thanks, Pat  I’m totally smitten with it. Can’t seem to put it down, I thought I had UPOD pretty badly before , but I think the condition is now terminal.

The ould B sets have a terrible tendency to complicate the condition… terminal! YIKES!
