We are having biscuits with slow roasted pork shoulder. This afternoon, the pork shoulder will become bar-b-q. Coffee, juice, and pop for beverages.
On the downside, the hot water pipes froze. Dang it.

I had porridge and toast six hours ago. And orange juice and a cup of tea.
Just made experimental bread with four different grains. Whole wheat, oatmeal, barley and rye. It’s cooling just now.
Instant pancakes with bananas and walnuts mixed in the batter. A cup of milk heated with some instant coffee mixed in.
Porridge and raisins with maple syrup, the wife also added butter to hers. Tea, black for her, milk and sugar for me. Defrosted the freezer yesterday, the drainage hose froze, what a mess.
Grapefruit followed by a bacon, avocado and mayonnaise sandwich. About 10 hours ago. Oh, and lashings of freshly ground coffee, of course.
We had fresh-cooked spaghetti bolognese for lunch (cooked by me) and we’re about to have slow roast rib of pork in a honey, hoi sin and mustard glaze/marinade with roast potatoes and cabbage from the garden for dinner (also cooked by me).
Altogether … Yum!

Eggo waffles with butter and syrup, bacon, tea, and orange juice.
Crunchy nut cornflakes. With, er, blackcurrent lemsip type stuff as I’ve got a cold. Pretty uninspiring.
The other week I had black pudding, bacon and eggs baked in ramekins. That was good!
Supper is going to be boiled bison with carrots, potatoes, onions, and cabbage topped with extra hot horseradish sauce.
Same breakfast almost every day: Scottish oatmeal with diced apples, ground flaxseed, cinnamon, sesame and sunflower seeds. O.j. Coffee.
The other one of us gets a toasted cinnamon-raisin bagel with butter, and 1/4 of the apple (of which I’ve diced the rest.) It’s what he likes.
I made spanish omletes with added mushrooms and swiss cheese, but my usual breakfast is shreaded wheat and cheerios. Wanted something hot; 7 degrees F here now, supposed to go down to -7 tonight.
Um, since I’m working on trying to use up (nearly) everything in the house before buying more, I had an officially-expired-but-still-good pot of locally produced yogurt with cherry topping.
Typically I have plain, organic yogurt with organic granola for a bit of crunch. But today, I had bacon and eggs. ![]()
Fresh orange juice, black tea, toasted homemade bread with butter and Gentleman’s Relish.
Take daily with multivitamins & fish oil.
I would like Gentlemen’s Relish http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gentleman’s_Relish but I think I would have to wait until at least lunch. Some of the suggested uses, like eggs, I’ll pass. My wife would pass on the whole thing at any time of day.
Did you know that in Persian, Eggo means ‘sewer’? Yum.
Rye bread with hummus. Herbal tea.
yer a connoissewer, eh?
Sourdough toast (a 1 1/2 pound loaf being a souvenir of my trip to San Francisco yesterday) with butter (putting anything else on a freshly cut slice of Boudin’s would be a travesty).
Redwolf
This morning my wife had a slice of a ten pound sourdough rye loaf, toasted with real unsalted butter, English cheddar cheese, and Polish bacon. Her LDL is in the basement, HDL is great, some people have all the genetic luck. ![]()
We have friends in Brisbane Aus. who were struck for three days in the flood with no power and no way to get fresh food so they had beans for breakfast…lunch…supper…snacks, a bit much of a good thing.
Breakfast here in Brazil is usually pao de queijo (cheese bread),fresh pineapple, mango, cake and oj and coffee.I would much rather have a good old fry up,but the bacon and sausages here are just not the same.
In Hawaii, outside the tourist areas, the number one breakfast has to be: -
-Portuguese sausage and/or SPAM
-STEAMED rice
-runny eggs
flavor to taste with Aloha Shoyu, ketchup, Tabasco.
Here in San Jose my favorite breakfast is a big bowl of Chinese noodle soup from Tung Kee Noodle (aka TK Noodle–there are at least 8 locations within 10 miles of my house!). My favorite choice, the ‘Large number 9,’ is a large bowl of thin yellow noodles in a tasty proprietary chicken broth. Toppings include 5 shrimp & pork wonton, turkey bits, pork strips (cooked by the broth), fried pork-skin bits, bean sprouts, cilantro, fried garlic slices, and some pickled vegetable I’ve yet to identify. Condiments include a wonderful flavored crushed red chili-oil, fresh and vinegared jalapenos, red vinegar, and soy sauce.
When I go back for my small twice-a-year working stint at the university, this is my morning breakfast. I wake up an hour earlier than I need to just so I have time to eat there.
I just made myself really, really hungry!!!
