Case for 3-piece flute

I recently bought a used Dixon poly 3-piece and enjoy it very much. I would like a hard case for it. Other than getting one from Tony himself, where else could I find one?
Cheers,
Aaron

Polymer flutes are very durable so you might not be needing a hard case for yours. I just keep my M&E wrapped up in a thick cloth - to prevent scratching. However if you still want a hard case for your flute, David Migoya just recommended one a few threads ago.

Someone hasn’t been doing their homework eh?

The single gun case offered by Doskocil is terrific for 3-piece flutes whose mid-body breaks down into two pieces (ala Rudall).
If it’s a solid body (ala Pratten) then the DoskoSport case for a scoped handgun is good.
The cases cost about $8 and they’re terrific. I’ve got 3

Thanks for the help. I’m looking for a more traditional flute case, however. I’ve used guncases as pipe boxes and there’s just something about plastic cases that goes against my grain (in spite of the irony of playing a plastic intrument). I know several pipers who use camera cases to good effect. Perhaps some sort of lens case? Any suggestions there?
Cheers,
Aaron

A gun case would be the most protective… And in fact that’s what I keep it in when in travel.

Going from ren faire to ren faire, I carry it in a Roll-up whistle case I got from Whistlesmith Michael Burke.

However, when I’m actually AT the ren faire, I carry it in a shoulder strap (much like many larger swords are carried) that a leather-working friend of mine made. It keeps my hands free when I’m not playing and it’s easy to pull out when I want to play it. Granted, it’s a little rough to treat a wooden flute or a keyed flute, but the Dixon Polymer doesn’t seem to mind much.

Good Luck in your search. If you have any inspiration or find any good deals on a case, please share.

Happy flutter-tounging,
Frank

Hi all:

Here’s a link to the cases Dave has been talking about: http://www.insidesportfishing.com/Market/ProdT380M253.asp?CLID=T93S43.

I ordered one for my (borrowed) flute from my sister. She says she’s going to get one or two for her other flutes now.
