I was looking through the listings under “Irish flute” on ebay, and I came across this Canadian-made folk flute in G. I contacted the seller, and he mentioned that the flute has a cylindrical bore and has a bright, clear tone. I wonder if anyone on the forum knows anything about these flutes or has played one? Has anyone played an embouchure hole shaped like these are shaped?

Yes, I was referring to the curved area around the embouchure hole and not the embouchure hole itself. Actually, the flute doesn’t have a lip plate. I was also thinking myself that the flute would be more attractive if it didn’t look like a table leg or curtain rod.

Does it look like the embouchure on the CAMAC “Irish Flute” that I had?
If so, I’ve never seem one like it before! 
It was a very odd embouchure. I thought that it must be to assist your playing. WRONG, I couldn’t even sound the flute when I first got it. Though I learned to play it, it never was “comfortable” nor an asset.

I’ve seen these a few weeks ago on Ebay. First thing that came to mind was…“Hmmmm…I’m sure that weird curved thing will get in the way”.
The standard of wood turning looks to be very good…I just don’t like unnecessary details.
Less is more. Leave them plainer, and I’m sure he’d sell more.

Some Boehm flute manufacturers have in the past offered what they called a “winged” lip plate, as an aid to beginners, supposedly.
Three of these flutes could help to make a fancy milking stool, perhaps.
