Caling all players - Recording project!

Hey all-

After reading some posts, I had an idea. It might have already been done, but I’d like to try it anyway.

I want to build a “beginners archive” of clips. Get together with a few players, and have each player record 10 or so different tunes, on the same flute. (I.E. All tunes from one player are on the his/her favorite flute, not switching between tunes.)

I’d love to get 10 each from a Hammy, Ormiston, M&E, Seery and McGee

They would be recorded as “naked” tunes, one time each at slow, medium and session speeds.

This way a beginner can download a sheet music GIF, and be able to play/listen to it in 3 different speeds.

Anyone that is interested, please contact me off the board at Aodhan at gaeliccrossings dot com. I think about 5 players, each with a different flute to start (That would give us 50 tunes as a basis) should be sufficient.

Oh, and any thoughts anyone?

Great idea, Aodhan! I was just on Clips&Snips thanks to Jayhawks post and was thinking it would be lovely to have something like that dedicated for flutes…

Related sidenote: If you start getting a lot of submissions, but not at three speeds, you could recommend plugins that exist for some of the various audioplayers that allow the listener to change speed without changing pitch (WinAmp has one for MP3s, for example). I’ve just found this and am in tune-learning heaven now!

I am definitely enthusiastic about this!
