Calgary whistlers?

Hey, is there anyone in the area?

Hi
I was in Calgary during what may have been the coldest last week of July/first week of August on record. We actually drove back from Drumheller to Calgary through a snowstorm! We missed the record high temperatures that preceded that week. And I believe the summer returned the day after we left.
If I’d known of any Calgarians, I would have gotten in touch, since it was the most music deprived week I’ve spent in some time. Not to say that there’s no music in Calgary, I was just busy whith family obligations (ie. visiting inlaws).

This probably won’t help, but my dear Dad lives in Calgary. He’s a freelance musician/instrument repairman, but he’s NOT into the Irish scene. He likes jazz.

Yeah, Calgary always has interesting weather.
Right now, the weather is partly cloudy with scattered rain showers. Which is nice, considering everything was almost dead because of that lovely hot spell.

Hi Brenna,

I’m not from Calgary, nor will I be here for much longer (just till August 31), but I am a flute/whistle player and could probably hook you up with some other players around here. If you want to get together for a few tunes sometime just drop me a line at x44wfgh@mun.ca and we can set something up.

Take care,
Wes

Hi, you are probably not checking this post anymore, but I live in Cochrane while I go to the University of Calgary where I am a Fine Arts student. My name is Noah Herbison and I am the maker of Laughing Whistles (check the Chiff&Fipple section on high-end/expensive whistles) and I also play them when I have time. My e-mail address is: nherbison@hotmail.com. It would be nice to get in touch with a fellow whistler, they seem to be scarce around here (not that I’ve looked very hard).

Hi Noah, there is a very nice little community of Irish players in Calgary…send me a private message if you want to know more. Unfortunately,I can’t convince them to move back to Ontario for some reason!!

I am also a fine arts student at the U of C. I’m majoring in painting, and studying music privately.
