I had 2 friends that went to the show; both said it was mind bogling. Dario Pergoretti showed up at our local bike shop and gave a talk. Great guy and I like his work. The man has passion about the bike and is a real joy to talk to, even with the English/Italian translation going on. He speaks good English and my Italian is only “FORZA!!”
It’s a lot friendly towards newbies than some of the other MTB sites (there’s one UK site in particular is full of people who ONLY do mental downhill racing and are pretty abusive towards anyone else).
I’m fairly new to the cycling lark, just bought a cheap MTB last year for fitness. But it turns out that we have a reputation as having the best mountain bike territory in the world so I’m going to start getting out on the trails a bit more now the weather’s better, see what it’s like for myself.
I had no idea there was a bike show in San Jose; I would have gone if I had. oops.
I used to ride a hundred miles a week, but then I moved to a location where it seemed kinda dangerous, and I just didn’t get back into it for the longest time. A few weeks ago, from my new place, which seems to be equally dangerous, I started commuting on bike a few days a week, 12 miles each way. I’m totally hooked again, and I want to work up to doing it every day within the next few weeks. My current bike’s not really built for that, though, so a bike-expert coworker is going to help me put together something lighter, faster, and more comfortable this weekend.
