Breton Carols

I know, slightly off-topic for this forum but thought I’d ask anyway. Anyone know where I could find some Breton Seasonal/Christmas Carols? Dots, abc, recordings, etc. I asked this over on the ITM forum, but thought I’d mention it here also.

Thanks and happy holidays.

Steve

Hi Steve,
Not an easy query! Here are some links i found that may interest you :

On deezer audio streaming : http://www.deezer.com/album/211953 by Yann Fanch Kemener
Some sacred breton music, in CD, some are downloadable : http://www.coop-breizh.fr/rubrique-719,chants-et-musiques-sacres.fr.htm
Another chrismas album, dowloadable : http://www.virginmega.fr/musique/titre/huit-chants-de-bretagne-noel-breton-jacques-kauffmann-105644656%2cpage1.htm
A large resource for breton music in abc or dots, click the black&white breton flag on the left to select only breton tunes: http://www.breizh-partitions.fr/

I’ll tell you if I can find more. May I ask where does your interest in breton chrismas tunes come from ?

Thanks very much for the various links—and for any further that you may come across. I wasn’t very successful in my earlier searches and what you have found is very helpful.

I have a friend (American) who is living in Quimper with whom I wanted to share some holiday tunes; a mix of tunes from home and from her adopted country.

All best wishes for the holidays.

Those are MTGuru transcriptions from another thread on c&f. There’s another tune out there too.

Apparently one of the tunes used for the hymn “Come Ye Lofty, Come Ye Lowly” is a Breton tune (it is the tune used in Holst’s “Christmas Day” I believe) And, the “Sans Day Carol” is not a Breton tune, but is named for a Breton saint.

All I’ve time for now. Hope this helps
