Hey all,
I’m doing an informal talk on the Uilleann pipes on Nov. 3 at 11am in the Music Instrument Gallery at the Boston Museum of Fine Arts. The set of Michael Egan pipes they have (circa 1850) will be out of the case to be viewed and talked about.
If anyone’s interested, be aware that you have to pay normal museum admission.

What about… played?
It’s a pity, but rather inevitable that such instruments are imprisoned in glass cases. But it should still be quite a “wow!” moment. Would love to be there. Pity the Atlantic etc. are in the way!
It will not be played…it might be made to play, if the museum wanted that to happen…from examining the set, I’m of the opinion that it could be restored to a playing condition, but that doesn’t seem to be in the cards.
