Have you ever made highland pipe reeds? Making border pipe reeds is a very similar process, but they may be somewhat smaller and the cane thinned out a little more. You might try asking on this forum:

If you have a Hammish Moore chanter get ahold of John McCann with McCann reeds and have him send you his easy reed blades with the staples.. They will require a little scraping ,and I use a small guage wire bridle as well… Works Perfect…
Thanks pals! the point is that I´ve made my own set of scot smallpipes and I wanna make a wooden lowland chanter to change with.
And yes, i´ve made a square bore highland chanter with it´s cane and plastic reeds also.
