Blackwood Flute,5 keys,Pratten

Can any one tell me about the above mentioned flute.

I saw it on the Hobgoblin website, and from the picture, I like it.
But a friend at the local sessiun warned me that these flutes can develop Random problems.
Is there any truth in this, or is it an ok flute?

These flutes have a reputation for being
a good way to spend money and end
up with something unplayable.
Might do a search on Pakistani flutes.
Also Hobgoblin’s prices seem high,
in general. Best

Thanks For the Warning

they’re made by greenland pipe co. in pakistan, they’re the same ones LiTM sells for significantly more.

I don’t know what prices you have seen but I e-mailed the Greenland pipe company a couple of months ago and asket for the price on a keyless. They charge £30 Sterling for them. Ultimately I decided against buying one. Haven’t heard too much possitive rewievs about them. You’d be better of buying an M&E, Seery or Burns from what I’ve heard.
Cheers

hobgoblin USA wants 325 for a dixon three piece, I believe..

Might be worth checking out a fairly recent thread; I think it was titled “Lark in AM Flutes” (?) and goes on at great length about this very topic.

Cheers!
