Can anyone tell me if this would be a good beginner Low D whistle. I do not know much about them. I have heard the Susato is excellent , but I do not know anything about the Bingamon.
Thanks..Scottie
It is a good beginner. The susato has sort of a strange reach and an oddly shaped hole 5. The Jubilee will be easy to play, and cost less too. While the Susato is a competent instrument in it’s own right, it isn’t a favorite of many, and it isn’t that easy to finger.
The Bingamon is made in the USA and I have never read anything negative about it. The whistles I think most whistlers agree to stay away from are from India or Pakistan.
My Howard low D and Susato low G are keepers.
The Jubilee is called a practice whistle and that’s a fair description. The holes are closer together than probably any other low whistle and if you’ve never played a low whistle and only want to spend about $20. to give it a try it’s probably a good way to go about it. I think though if you like playing it at all you’ll want to get another brand almost right away. I guess the problem with it is it sounds a little too much like the sprinkler pipe it’s made out of. That’s not really a big problem because it is called a practice whistle and it’s only 20 bucks. If you want to give it a try it’s not a bad idea but I think you’ll want to upgrade so you might want to consider just doing the upgrade in the first place.
Since the Susato isn’t getting many votes as far as the low whistles go anyway, the next least expensive choice may be the Dixon. They are $68 at The Whistle Shop.

It is good to have both. Howards, Susatos and other fine whistles are kept in the house. And a pvc pratice whistle can be kept in the house, garage, boat, back seat ,tied to the motor cycle, sky diving, scuba diving, back packing, at the deer lease, the duck blind, and…
