Big New Step

I’m hyperventilating here. I just got this email:

Hi Cara,
Thank you for your message; your timing is very good.
We will have your whistle set done and ready to ship by early next week.
The total due for the C, D, Eb set is $500.00 and if you would like a
case, it is an additional $40.00. I accept check or money order as
payment and shipping and insurance during transit are covered in the
price. I will send the instruments by Priority US Mail unless otherwise
instructed.
Thank you again for the order and for your patience in receiving it.
Chris Abell

I can’t believe it’s really happening! New whistles for ME! I am saved! Praise Chris! From susatos to Abells in a week! Yippeeeeee!

Hooray for you!! How long did you wait? I’ve been waiting only close to eight months for a high end whistle that I’m supposed to get tomorrow, one that caused me to remove myself from other waiting lists so that I could still afford it when it was finally ready because my income dropped. I think you were very wise to order a set because I think changing from whistle to whistle requires a lot less breath adjustment etc when they are all the same make. I’ll be adjusting from Susato narrow bore Eb to Copeland D to Sweetheart C… and I’ll have to get used to it!

Good for you, I bet you’ll love your new Abells, the spiffy carrying pouch is nice too. Chris’ whistles are as beautiful as any you’ll ever see and a joy to play - the most goof proof on the planet IMO.

Chris just informed me that my A/Bb Madagascar Rosewood Set is just about ready as well. Unfortunately I can’t afford them at the moment, so Chis is going to hold them for me - very nice of him. Now, don’t you wise guys get any ideas, the set is already engraved with serial numbers that match my Eb/D/C Madagascar set, so don’t even bother calling Chris in an effort to get my set =;^

Hi Lisa,

So you’re getting a new baby tomorrow? That is so great. It’s really hard to contain the excitement, isn’t it?

I placed the order on March 20th, the day after I ran into a 16 year-old player from Indiana, at The Kraftbrau here in Kalamazoo. She was so alive with love for her music, flutes and whistles. I think her name was Autumn. I got to try some of her whistles, and felt something inside me change. A commitment happened. Time to get serious! Choosing Abells was almost an accident-- I can’t even tell you exactly why I went with them. I did like the fact that they were a set. There’ll definitely be room someday for a metal beauty like a Copland.

Loren,

I have this strong prescient feeling that along with death and taxes, I’ll buy a flute or whistle off you some day. The more “goof-proof,” the better! Alligator bite marks optional.

Congratulations! I’d save and get a really expensive whistle, but I’m happy with my cheapie… And Mom would probably give me one of THOSE looks and say “you’re getting another whistle??” he he he.

Congrats though! They should be an absolute joy to play!
