Tom Clarke emailed me about this years Belfast Tionól.

Hi Fergus, this years events are taking place at the
Shaftesbury Centre, just around the corner from An
Droichead, 2 minutes walk. Look forward to seeing

If there isn’t anything else happening on the Friday night before the Tionól can someone recommend a session to go to ?

a Day of piping exposure like that all for 10 pounds? wow.. I wish all events were as affordable. maybe I need to move to Ireland after all.

Maddens upstairs. Give me a shout might join you

Hi

do I need to confirm or book myself into the morning and afternoon tuition classes, or can I simply turn up and pay at the door?.

cheers

You just show up on the morning.

cheers

Any other chiffers going to Maddens on Friday (apart from gerrymceltic) or doing the reedmaking workshop on Saturday ?

I’ll be at both. Might be nice to meet up.

Hi Podge

I will be at the reedmaking class as usually on the Saturday but not at Maddens on the Friday.

Over the years being at the many Belfast Tionóls I would arrive at around 10.30 am - 4 pm for classes. 1- 2 for lunch.

After the classes we go to the local pub for a few pints and then to the Chinese restaurant. After that it is back to the centre with our bottles of wine/beers from the off license for tunes on the pipes until I get tired as I would have been going for 16 hours by then.

Slan go foill

Ferg

THAT sounds brilliant, Fergus! Hmmmm why am I craving Chinese food and jar, now?
