I have been interested for years in learning an instrument.I have tried the piano and failed miserably, also various brass instrumentd to no avail. Then like finding the holy grail I came upon the penny whistle.I have never been so engrossed.I dont have to learn music to any great degree, it,s just a matter of playing a tune over and over again untill it is second nature. For Christmas my good wife bought me the complete irish whistle book. This comes with 4 CDs the first track is played slowly and the next at full throttle, so you can follow it at your own pace. I have already learned two tracks. It would be nice to hear from fellow learners.I am 49 years of age and live in Tintwistle (yes that really is the name of our village)and I look forward to some replies.
Well welcome to the board, you picked the right place. We have everything from newbies to those who can’t count the years they have played on their fingers and toes.
Hi, Peter! I’m new, too. Thanks for letting us know about the book. I’ve been looking for a good tutorial while my whistles are on their way to me. I’ll definitely check that out! Good luck!
Hi there!
I’m a beginner whistler too. It’s great fun! That book sounds interesting. I have no book but I find great help at Brother Steve’s tin whistle pages. It’s excellent, really.
What kind of whistle do you have? Of course you have to play the whistle when you live in tintwhistle. Too cool!!
