Beach Time- then and now

Wheee- vacation starts tomorrow and it’s back to good old Myrtle Beach,SC. (click on pics to enlarge)

Here’s me and my aunt the first time I went (1954) notice the pier in the background, my dad was a great fisherman. We still have to stay at a pier- now it’s my husband who has to fish.

It’s gonna be fun I hope. Lots of fishing, like we did last year, and our daughter and her husband are driving down from Maryland mid-week to join us.

Of course it no longer looks anything like this, mostly all high-rises and condos, but the piers are still there and so is the ocean.

It takes around 8 hrs to get there, but it’s a great change from these mountains- funny how we get the flatlanders up here for vacation and we head to the ocean.

Yaaaaahoooooo!!!

Love the pix, old and new. Have a fun and relaxing trip!

It’s a long drive, but worth it, all right.

P.S. Your timing is perfect…you’ll be back in plenty of time to join all the flatlanders for the joys of leaf-peeping season.

Some of my best times have been at the beach. When I was growing up I spent very little time with my dad because of his work schedule. However, during the summer dad would go with us boys to the beach.

These days I am fortunate enough to live near the beach. The ocean, the waves, the air, all of it, are one way I unwind and release all the tension that seems to accumulate moment by moment.

Enjoy your beach trip.
