Bank manager approved a mortgage for me!

Oh dear, now im all growed up!!!

Went in to see bank manager today and he has approved a 250,000 euro mortgage for me whenever i need it!!

Time for Flanum to start acting all grown up and buy a wee cottage in the rolling drumlins of Cavan!

Oh dear!

.

Nicky and I got our first mortgage in 1978 and it was £14,750 over 25 years. By 1986, our move to Cornwall, it had become £40,000. Up to £45,000 in 1990, £55,000 by 1996 and £60,000 by 2000. In 2005 it was £70,000 and still had 10 years to run. Pick da bones outta that lot! Mind you, we now have…equity. :sunglasses:

Hey, congratulations Flanum. Great news.

Now here ya go, I’ve found just the right house for you:

It’s in a great location, handy for schools and most important it has plenty of room for you, the wife and kids and all your Chiff and Fipple visitors.

Somebody gave 'im money?

Ya, tell me another one.

It’s tall tale Tuesday, after all…

j/k :stuck_out_tongue:

Fair play Conor!!
Where did you buy? I know it was Cavan but what part?

Tommy

Now your troubles are really started!

Best of luck.

We bought a house in Dublin for £11,200 in 1975. Similar ones are now on the market with an asking price in excess of €800,000. Ridiculous.

Even I remember well the days when cottages on at least a half acre wouldn’t sell even for 5K. We did the grown up thing, by-passed the bankmanager and put down all the savings when they did start selling and at 10-15 K at that. Never regretted it. A half acre site two miles from where I live is on the market now for 190K. Madness indeed

Congratulations! I’m looking forward to one day being able to buy property…but not in Cavan, too close to the inlaws.

J.

Just yesterday I saw a cottage listed in the Galway Advertiser, for a derelict cottage, down near Moycullen area. A picture’s worth a thousand words…

All for the low, low price of 160,000 euro. Don’t mind the rain, the wind is worse.

Madness indeed.

Havent bought yet, just got the nod of approval from mr bank for whenever in the next year i need it. still settling into new job, tryin to get used to living back in cavan again, will go on the house hunt after christmas.
havent decided whether to build or buy yet??? tough decision, most of my close mates in cavan are builders, roofers, etc. i myself can do all plumbing and wiring, so a few months yet to get the head together!

And just when are you proposing to get on top of those pipes, then!
