I’m selling a Michael Grinter 8-keyed wooden concert flute in “D”. This unusual flute is made from flawless and beautifully-grained cocus with sterling-silver keys and rings. It has a threaded stopper on the head-joint. The flute is in perfect condition, with no cracks or splits. It plays beautifully and is in perfect tune. The keyways are lined with sterling silver. It comes in a lovely handmade wooden case, made of clear fruitwood and lined in green velvet. The original hand-turned wooden grease-pot can be seen to the lower right.
This flute sold for $4,400 a few years ago. A new Michael Grinter 8-keyed flute sells for 3,200 Euros ($4,100, plus postage, insurance, and possible import fees from Australia. The wait for a keyed-flute is currently eighteen months to two years. For a flute like this there would be a higher charge and a longer wait.
I am asking €3,100 ($3,800) for the flute. You will not see its like again. I am open to offers and a possible trade. The money will go towards the restoration of a shed in Ireland.
Working on figuring out how to get the Kubota to float, especially with the 1/2 ton of of corrugated roofing I’m packing for ya. FWIW, that’s what’s on the roof of my house and barn and feed shed, and besides lasting a long time, it sounds terrific in the rain.
I was thinkin about that too, actually - do you suppose that since I have such a strong acidic reaction to brass that I might be allergic to cocus myself? Any thoughts anyone?
