Bad, very bad science-fiction

Damn, and I really liked it, go figure. I especially liked the characters. Oh well…

If you think Stargate Atlantis is bad, you should check out Stargate SG1. That show was really abysmal.

I like Farscape, though.

Burn the heretic!

SG1 is great. Can’t wait for the last couple of series to finally show on channel 4 over here.

I used to love Babylon 5 and thought Farscape was pretty good as well (although it lost me for a season or 2 in the middle).

Didn’t mind Enterprise but I think it was a wasted opportunity that they could have done a lot more with. A poor effort after the excellence of Next Generation, DS9 and Voyager.

Enterprise was crap (and that’s coming from a dedicated Trekkie).
The continuty was all gummed up, histories were rewritten, and I blame Brannon Braga; he’s gone to the dark side.
The original premise behind Enterprise was a great idea…but it was twisted into something that was only done for the sake of making a buck.
Rather than rant to heavily, I’ll just say that I consider Enterprise to be “non-cannon” Trek, and merely the most successful piece of “fan-fiction” ever created in the Trek universe.

Yes, Az, something is very, very wrong with you.
Seek help…
don’t wait, do it now.

It’s funny because I found DS9 boring to death, I thought Voyager was very, very bad, with the annoying Neelix character, Seven of Nine-I-am-a-model-with-boobs-turned-borg and so on. But I love Enterprise. I think it was because of the characters, and I was in love with T’Pol, but I guess she was just a model-with-boobs turned Vulcan.

Uh, are you having a mental dichotomy?
for all it’s failings, Voyager didn’t tread all over the franchise’s established history and lay waste to thirty years of bulding that history…
Maybe you’re just not a real Trek fan :stuck_out_tongue:

I don’t like Star Trek at all. It’s silly.

I’m so with you on this one, Congrats…

The scifi books that I always hope they will make into movies are:

Enders Game by Orson Scott Card(just the first one)

and the Hyperion series by Dan Simmons. One of my favorite series of all time. What a wonderful storyline.

At one time or another, I both enjoyed and was also disappointed by all of the Trek series. But never to the point of arguing over continuity and revision of history etc. It was just a TV show!

Hehe, you’re right, I’m not a Star Trek fan and never have been. I always saw it as a soap opera in space.

Exactly! I loved the original ST when I was young, but now it makes me cringe. I enjoyed Next Gen at first, but soon became bored. The rest (DS9, Voyager, Enterprise) just never interested me.

My all-time favorite SF TV shows are Firefly and Babylon 5; I have them both on DVD. Farscape, Stargate SG1 and others that I’ve tried to watch just didn’t measure up.

I haven’t seen the new Battlestar Galactica, so I can’t comment on it. (I didn’t like the original BSG, so I ignored the new BSG when it came out. Now, I’m so far behind I doubt I’ll bother trying to catch up.)

 this coming from one of the guys who might be found arguing any equally pointless matters in the rubber room?

okay, I’m just kidding…

Slude, you owe it to yourself to somehow obtain the first season and watch it.

Shhh..don’t let the others hear you call the discussions pointless. Someone might accuse you of being brainwashed

The whole thing is available on dvd. I’ve rented them all from netflix. There is a pilot episode, then season 1.
Tony

Well, the pilot episode is actually a 4-hour miniseries, if I’m not mistaken.

My reason for mentioning it was that I got mixed up with figuring out what to rent. I watched the pilot, then disc 2 of season one, so I saw disc 1/season 1 out of sequence, which enraged me. :swear:

You need to rent the pilot, then disc1/season1, etc. Seems obvious in retrospect.
