Star Trek: Enterprise cancelled

So sorry if someone else posted this…I scanned the first page here and didn’t see it. I know there are fellow Trekkies here who might be interested in this news.

While I have never been a fan of Enterprise (though I loyally watched every episode), I am sorry to see a current “Star Trek” series stop airing. The heads at Paramount say there will be a future Star Trek show, but who knows when. For my vote, I certainly hope they don’t repeat their mistake with Enterprise and put it in the past…I love to see the futuristic ships and technology and the depth and good stories of Voyager and The Next Generation. The minute I first heard the Enterprise premise, I thought “that will be a flop.”

The last show will be May 13. Filming finishes in March.

PS: Though I wasn’t sure this forum split was a good idea, I have to admit to breathing a sigh of relief that I am not infuriating people with another off-topic post!

You wouldnt believe how much I disliked Voyager, and Entreprise became my favorite ST show after Next Generation. I’m very sad about that, especially that they were trying new things, like having sets of 2-3 episodes, which really leave you waiting for the next one. :sniffle:

This show was still on?!? I had no idea.

I wouldn’t call 4 seasons a “flop” but yea it was probably the least interesting star trek series so far. I only watched a couple episodes, but I never thought it was all that great.

I’ve enjoyed Enterprise immensly. In fact it has been the only show I have actually made a point of watching on a regular basis. I’m sad to see it go. There is so much worse crap on the idiot box that the general public seems to love…WWF…supposed “reality” TV drek…trailer trash shouting matches…So you wanna be a star? Well we have this first class a–hole on the panel with an acid tongue who will do his best to make you feel like crap…alas  I guess after Friday, May 13th about the only time I will be turning on the TV is to watch a DVD.

Cheers,
David

I’ve never been much of a fan of any but the very first Star Trek. I guess I was put off after awhile by STNG and thier “touchy feely” approach. Maybe these others were better? Don’t know.

Ain’t it the truth.

I’ll bite. What happens Friday May 13th?

You can’t surmise from the subject of this thread

That’s when the last episode of Enterprise airs.

Cheers,
David

Pay attention, Fly, dear…it’s the last day of the series. (see initial post in this thread)

Umm, don’t know. Less to watch on TV? I can’t remember a time when, between 1984 and the late 1990’s I wasn’t recording and following shows. What has been watchable has gone off air, the New Jersey Network hasn’t shown Dr. Who in years, and very few good shows have replaced the cancelled ones. I think the demise of The X-Files pretty much put a stop to my need for blank VHS tapes.
I recently started to tape “This Old House”. Wonder what that means . . .

Thank god for DVDs to fill the need for entertainment.

As a kid, I loved the original Star Trek series, but I never got into the follow-on shows. (I did watch TNG for a while, but the Wesley Crusher character was just too obnoxious.)

For sci-fi tv, I prefer Babylon 5 and Firefly. B5 was written as a five-season television novel, so it ended after… well, five seasons. Firefly wasn’t given a fair chance by the network it was on, so it only lasted for about a dozen episodes. Luckily, they’re filming a theatrical movie (Serenity), set for release next fall.

So, what will the next good sci-fi tv series be about? Any rumors (or good ideas)?

Cheers,
John

I didn’t watch the original Star Trek all that much but I regularly watched TNG. I watched about half a season of Deep Space Nine, a couple of episodes of Star Trek: Lost in Space, whatever that was called. Watched the first episode of Enterprise and thought it was beyond dopey.

Maybe if they take a break they’ll come up with something fresh. Personally, I think it’s all about the characters.

Dale

My husband and I absolutely love the Stargate series: both SG-1 and Atlantis. I agree with Dale that it’s all about the characters. Both of these shows have great characters that work really well together. We were hooked from the first episode of Atlantis because of the characters, and usually it takes me a few episodes to feel like I know (and care about) the people.

Dr. Who is baaaack . . .

Christopher Eccleston is the Doctor. It’ll have Daleks and everything. I can’t wait to see what they look like! Surely they will have adapted to use more modern British ash cans!

It is not presently known if it will shown in the US.

I’ve liked all of the Star Trek series, I think their big problem is Paramount and their weakling UPN Network.

For many years it was very difficult getting reception to watch Enterprise (many of my friends just gave up trying) and now after the problem is finally being cleared up, it gets cancelled. A lot of people won’t jump into watching in the middle of a series.

I wish they would the payrolls of a few network execs instead.

It would seem I overlooked that particular sentence. I’ll go to my room now.
