Not sure if anyone remembers me, but I used to be active but stopped posting while I was living in lovely Country Waterford for the past year and a bit. Anyways, it looks like it might be a quiet summer so I’m hoping to get the old whistle and flute again and see if I can pick up where I left off. Nice to be back!
Sure they do, it just usually involves climbing to the top of very high buildings and waving your laptop around until you find a signal (by YOUR laptop, I mean the laptop your cousin Donal says fell off the back of a truck).
I was pretty much internetless while there unless I was willing to fight for computer time at the local library with large Polish men.
all the libraries here have wifi so you can bring your own laptop and not have to use theirs. There are also countless bars and internet cafes where for the price of a drink you can sit and use the internet. Surly they have that over there, they have it in the Galapagos islands
They do in the major towns/cities. Not so much in small town Ireland (I was in a town called Tramore). Wifi was kicking up though just as I was leaving, in fact Ireland is pretty plugged in comparatively speaking.
Heheh, they may be low brow, but in my experience they personify Irish humour. I had a great time. Didn’t realize how man rain can drive you, even in the “sunny southeast”, I really didn’t mind the snow and below freezing temperatures here in Ottawa this winter. Travelled alot, low cost flights are the thing a probably miss most, that and British television.
I ran a B&B/Hostel so the off season was great fun. Tramore is a lovely town with a fantastic beach. Unfortunately, it also attracts a fairly… uh… “rough” crowd during the summer (quickly dispells any romantic notion you have of the Irish), so that was less than ideal. Nonetheless, I’d love to go back.
