Vacation was nice, but ya just can’t get any rest…
-finished one book-The Family Moskat
-started The Great Gatsby
-ate way too much great food
and caught more than a few of these-

Welcome back!!

What is that?

Looks like you had fun!

If anybody wants to see my vacation pictures from the Oregon coast, they are on Webshots at http://outdoors.webshots.com/album/560548829jaOFvQ?vhost=outdoors And yes, I realize the sea lions are blurry - that’s because I followed the rules and didn’t use a flash inside Sea Lion Caves.

It’s a fish.

Sorry Cran, I just couldn’t resist it. That’s the reply my niece once gave when asked that question while a very similar photo was being taken.

I’m glad you had fun…but I’m glad you’re back too  You look quite pleased with yourself in your catch. I love it!

Oh, dear. I mean what kind of fish (I thought it was obvious that it’s a fish)? I have never seen a tail like that.

A dead fish.

Anstapa

That is a Spanish mackerel. I found out that they are not normally “running” in the fall there, but for some reason there they were this year. I caught several that were quiet a bit larger than the one in the picture. They have very sharp teeth and often cut the line before they were brought in. My husband, who is a fisherman, said he had more fun catching them than any other fish he’d ever caught. They do put up a fight, the rod would sometimes bend almost double and they were hard for me to get in. Add to that, some days sharks would grab them before we could get them out of the water so the result would be only a fish head or half a fish. They were not “keepers” unless they measured at least 12" from the tip of the head to the “V” of the tail.

Now I’m ticked at myself. I said, “It’s a mackeral” but I wasn’t sure so I didn’t post.

anyway, glad you’re back because your my lifeline into the hills.

But is it holy?

djm

From some of the words spoken by folks while trying to reel them in…I’d say AMEN, definitely holy!

(out on the end of the pier they were fishing for King Makerel- brought in a 22 lb and a 34lb one day. They were huge.)

I want to be your lifeline into something.

I’m really glad you said that, because if you hadn’t, I would have had to.
